Summary
State Nuclear Safety Participation Act of 1987 - Amends the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the States to: (1) establish and enforce regulatory standards for the protection of the public health and safety from radiological hazards of commercial and industrial production and utilization facilities; (2) order, by law, the decommissioning of any such facility and establish and enforce regulations governing such decommissioning; and (3) veto, by law, the issuance of an operating license for such facility by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Requires that such standards be equal to or greater than Federal standards.
