A bill to amend Public Law 85-159 to strike the provision relating to transmission of power generated by the Niagara Power Project, New York, to neighboring States.

Summary

Amends Federal law to require the Power Authority of the State of New York (licensee) to make a total of 2.5 percent of its project power available for use by nonprofit cooperatives and public bodies that were using less than one megawatt of the licensee's project power in neighboring States as of enactment of this Act. Prohibits the licensee for the Niagara Power Project from entering into any new contract, or renewing a contract for the transmission of power generated by the Project outside the State of New York except to comply with this Act.
