Summary

Fostering Service Act of 2002 - Amends the National and Community Service Act of 1990 to authorize additional appropriations to: (1) include youth who are aging out of foster care among those to be given opportunities for participating in various national service programs (NSPs); (2) make eligible as an NSP a community service program designed to engage former foster care youth as mentors for such youth; (3) authorize training to improve the ability of NSPs to recruit, retain, and integrate such youth as participants in NSPs; (4) assist such youth-participants in making the transition to independent living; and (5) include State and local agencies that provide services to youth in foster care and youth aging out of foster care among the entities through which the Corporation for National and Community Service and State commissions disseminate information on available approved national service positions.
