Summary

Everglades National Park Protection and Expansion Act of 1989 - Title I: Everglades National Park Expansion - Modifies the boundaries of the Everglades National Park, Florida. Authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to acquire lands for addition to the Park. Expresses the intent of the Congress that acquisition within the boundaries of the addition shall be completed within five years. Authorizes appropriations. Authorizes the Secretary to expedite the construction of a visitor center facility at Everglades City, Florida. Designates the facility the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Center. Title II: Fort Jefferson National Monument Redesignation Study - Requires the Secretary, within two years after enactment of this Act, to transmit to specified congressional committees a study of the feasibility of expanding and redesignating Fort Jefferson National Monument as Fort Jefferson National Park.
