Summary
Community Character Act of 2001 - Directs the Secretary of Commerce to establish a program of grants to States and tribal governments to promote comprehensive land use planning at the State, tribal, and local levels. Allows use of grant funds for technical assistance (including development of land use planning legislation), providing funding for local government units to carry out land use planning activities, or acquiring equipment or information technology to facilitate such activities. Authorizes the Secretary to develop voluntary educational and informational programs for the use of land use planning and zoning officials.
