A bill to authorize the Architect of the Capitol to acquire certain property.

Summary

Authorizes the Architect of the Capitol, under the direction of the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, to acquire by purchase, condemnation, transfer or otherwise, specified publicly and privately owned real property and improvements located in the District of Columbia as an addition to the U.S. Capitol Grounds and the improvements on such real property as a part of the Senate Office Buildings. Authorizes appropriations. Makes the acquired property available to the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper of the Senate for use as a residential facility for Senate Pages and for such other purposes as the Committee may provide. Grants the U.S. Capitol Police authority to: (1) make arrests for the violation of any U.S. or District of Columbia law or issued regulation within any area or street in the District outside the Capitol Grounds necessary to carry out supervision or jurisdiction over such acquired real property and improvements; and (2) travel between parts of the Capitol Grounds which are not contiguous. Provides that the authority of the Capitol Police to make arrests within such area or street shall be concurrent with that of the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police.
