Summary
With the amendments to the bill, the Health Insurance Act is supplemented with a new additional temporary incapacity for work insurance case, which is infection with the new dangerous infectious disease COVID-19, in which case the insured person has the right to receive sickness compensation of 100 percent of the person's income from the first day of work release. Among other things, the fixed-term regulation on the payment of sickness benefits, which entered into force on January 1, 2021, will be changed to indefinite, since as of today there are no know when the virus outbreak subsides. The explanatory letter states that the purpose of the changes made in the draft is to prevent the infection of working-age people and to avoid workplace-based infection centers.
