Summary
Eelnõu näeb ette metsaseaduses muudatused raievanuse kohta, millest alates lageraie on lubatud. Raievanuse sätted kehtestab puuliikide ja boniteediklasside kaupa valdkonna eest vastutav minister metsa majandamise eeskirjaga. Need on männi ja kõvalehtpuude lageraie korral 100–160 aastat; kuuse lageraie korral 70–120 aastat; kase ja sanglepa lageraie korral 70–80 aastat; haava lageraie korral 40–50 aastat. Eelnõu eesmärk on muuta kehtivat olukord, kus seaduse sätted võimaldavad raiuda metsa rohkem, kui on metsade juurdekasv. Olukorra on põhjustanud varasemad seadusemuudatused, muuhulgas alandatud raievanused ning võimalus metsatöödel kohaldada diameetripõhist raiet. Tulemuseks on pikaajaline üleraiumine, mistõttu ei ole metsa- ja puidutööstus Eestis pikaajaliselt jätkusuutlik.
