Summary
Eelnõu kohaselt ühineb Eesti Vabariik Euroopa Keskpika Ilmaennustuse Keskuse asutamise konventsiooni ning selle juurde kuuluva eesõiguste ja puutumatuse protokolliga, 2005. aasta konventsiooni muutmise protokolliga ja ratifitseerib Eesti Vabariigi valitsuse ja Euroopa Keskpika Ilmaennustuse Keskuse (ECMWF) vahelise Eesti Vabariigi ECMWFi asutamise konventsiooniga ühinemist ning sellega seotud tingimusi käsitleva kokkuleppe, mis kirjutati alla 3. juunil 2020. aastal. Keskuse põhiülesandeks on keskpika ilmaennustuse võimekuse arendamine ja liikmesriikidele keskpikkade ilmaprognooside tagamine. ECMWFi liikmesriigi staatus võimaldab saada täiendavat infot, et kasutada keskusest saadavaid mudelarvutuste tulemusi kohalikele vajadustele vastavate kvaliteetsete toodete ja teenuste loomiseks. Kättesaadav info aitab juurutada hetkeennustusi, võtta kasutusele ja rakendada ansambelennustusi, suurendada erineva pikkusega prognooside usaldusväärsust ja täpsust. ECMWFi tagatavad tooted ja teenused on Keskkonnaagentuuri Riigi Ilmateenistuse igapäevatöö aluseks ning nendest sõltub Eesti ilmaprognooside ja hoiatuste täpsus.
