Summary
Seaduse muudatuse eesmärk on viia üha enam toodangust mahedalt märgistatuna tarbijani, soodustada mahetoidu tarbimist ja mahetooraine üha laialdasemat kasutamist toitlustusettevõttetes. Sätestatakse võimalus mahetooraine kasutamisele viitamiseks spetsiaalselt toitlustajatele väljatöötatud märgi kaudu. Tekib võimalus näidata mahetooraine protsentuaalselt osakaalu kolmes vahemikus: üle 20 kuni 50 protsendi toorainest on mahe; üle 50 kuni 80 protsendi toorainest on mahe; üle 80 kuni 100 protsendi toorainest on mahe. Vahemikku on võimalik arvestada ettevõttesse eelmisel kuul toidu valmistamiseks toodud põllumajandustoodete koguse või maksumuse põhjal. Andmed saadakse ettevõtte raamatupidamisdokumentidest. Toitlustajatele antakse võimalus ise otsustada, kas osakaalu arvestamise aluseks võetakse toodete kogus või maksumus. Kehtiv seadus võimaldab toitlustusettevõttes kasutada riiklikku ökomärki, kui vähemalt 95% kasutatavast toorainest on mahepõllumajandusest, kuid seda on paljudes ettevõtetes keeruline täita.
