Summary

As the EU has undertaken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent by 2020 and unilaterally by 20 percent within the framework of the global agreement, all sectors must contribute to the achievement of these goals. The draft adopts two corresponding EU directives. A significant part of the total amount of greenhouse gases in the Community comes from the fuel used in transport. The purpose of the draft amendment is to reduce the transport sector greenhouse gas emissions to improve overall ambient air quality.
