Summary
Eesti õigusesse võetakse üle Euroopa Liidu direktiiv, mille kohaselt peab keskkonnaministeerium korraldama vähemalt iga kuue aasta järel kiirgus- ja tuumaohutusalaseid vastastikhindamisi. Eesti puhul kohaldub direktiiv Paldiski endisele tuumaobjektile ning seega tuleb vastastikhindamise teema valida antud objekti arvestades. Esimene vastastikhindamine korraldatakse 2017. aastal. Praktikas tähendab see seda, et Eesti ekspertidest koosnev töörühm viib läbi enesehinnangu, mis seejärel saadetakse hindamiseks teistele Euroopa Liidu liikmesriikidele. Praegu kehtiva seaduse kohaselt tuleb ka lisaks iga kümne aasta järel viia läbi rahvusvaheline audit. Seadusemuudatusega nähakse ette, et audit tuleb läbi viia viivitamata ka juhul, kui Paldiski objektil on tekkinud avariikiirituse olukord. Eestis ei ole avariikiirituse olukordi tekkinud ning Paldiski tuumaobjektilt on tuumakütus juba aastaid tagasi eemaldatud.
