Summary
Eelnõuga viiakse seadusse viited uuele ELi määrusele uuendtoidu valdkonnas. Peamine muudatus on seotud uuendtoidu kasutusele võtmise loamenetlusega. Senine liikmesriigi tasandi loamenetlus muudetakse ELi-üleseks keskseks loamenetluseks. Seaduse jõustumisel pole enam vaja uuendtoidukomisjoni, kuna nimetatud toidu turule lubamise otsuse teeb edaspidi Euroopa Komisjon, küsides ohutushinnangut Euroopa Toiduohutusametilt. Uuendtoit on toit, mida enne 1997. aastat ei ole ELis olulisel määral toiduna kasutatud.
