Summary

The bill changes the statute of limitations for certain civil law claims recognized by a court decision or other enforcement document. Currently, all civil law claims recognized by an enforcement instrument expire within a ten-year period. The draft stipulates that the statute of limitations for claims arising from unlawful damage and claims awarded on the basis of a civil action filed within the framework of criminal proceedings will be extended from ten to 20 years. For example, if there is a victim in the judgment awarded compensation for bodily injury, then the limitation period for this claim will be 20 years instead of 10 years in the future. The purpose of the amendment is to improve the legal position of the creditor. The statute of limitations for other civil law claims, such as a claim for payment of the purchase price arising from a sales contract or a claim arising from a loan agreement, remains 10 years.
