Summary
Otsuse eelnõu võimaldab 2027. aastal kasutada kuni kolme kaitseväelast Ühinenud Rahvaste Organisatsiooni rahuvalveoperatsioonil UNTSO (United Nations Truce Supervision Organization) Liibanonis, Iisraelis, Egiptuses, Jordaanias ja Süürias. Kaitseväelaste vahetumise ajal võib nende arv ühe kuu jooksul olla kuni kuus. Eesti plaanib panustada ühe sõjalise vaatlejaga. Eesti sõjalised eksperdid on operatsioonil osalenud alates 1997. aastast. 2026. aastal panustab Eesti kahe kaitseväelasega: ühe sõjalise vaatlejaga Lõuna-Liibanonis ning üheks aastaks Kairo esinduse juhi ametikohale lähetatud kaitseväelasega. 2027. aastal plaanib Eesti jätkata ühe sõjalise vaatlejaga. Võrreldes 2026. aastaga vähendatakse Eesti mandaadi piirmäära kuuelt kolme kaitseväelaseni. UNTSO loodi 1948. aastal ning see on ÜRO esimene rahuvalveoperatsioon. Relvastamata sõjalised vaatlejad jälgivad olukorda piirkonnas ja toetavad teisi ÜRO rahuvalveoperatsioone Liibanonis ning Golani kõrgendikul. Operatsiooni peakorter asub Jeruusalemmas ning selles osaleb ligi 400 inimest 30 riigist.
