Summary
Eelnõu annab võimaluse panustada 2017. aastal kuni kümne tegevväelasega rahvusvahelisel sõjalisel operatsioonil Inherent Resolve. Eesti osalus nimetatud operatsioonis algas augustis 2016, mil Anbari provintsis alustas teenistust 6-liikmeline väljaõppemeeskond Taani kontingendi kooseisus, mille peamiseks ülesandeks on Iraagi julgeolekujõudude sõjaline väljaõpe. Lisaks teenib alates septembrist 2016 üks Eesti vanemohvitser Bagdadis USA juhitavas mitmerahvuselises sõjalis-strateegilises meeskonnas, mis nõustab Iraagi ministeeriume ja julgeolekujõudusid. Operatsiooni eesmärgiks on ISILi vastane otsene ja toetav sõjaline tegevus, seda eelkõige Iraagis ja Süürias. Eesti kaitseväelased ei osale tegevustes, mis toimuvad operatsiooni Inherent Resolve raames Süüria territooriumil. Operatsiooni juhtivad ning toetavad elemendid ning staabid paiknevad ka Bahreinis, Küprosel, Egiptuses, Iisraelis, Jordaanias, Kuveidis, Liibanonis, Kataris, Türgis ja Saudi Araabias. Arvestades ISILi vastase võitluse prioriteetsust, on Eesti valmis vajadusel ja võimalusel panustama operatsiooni täiendavalt, näiteks staabiohvitseridega. Täiendavalt panustatavate tegevväelaste hulk jääks eelnõus sätestatud piirarvu sisse.
