Summary
Eelnõu võimaldab panustada kuni kolme kaitseväelasega Ühinenud Rahvaste Organisatsiooni (ÜRO) missioonile UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon). ÜRO rahuvalvemissioonil on oluline stabiliseeriv roll Liibanonis ja kogu piirkonnas, mõjudes heidutavalt vägivalla levikule. Missiooni peamine ülesanne on jälgida olukorda piirkonnas, aidates kaasa vaenutegevuste tekkimise ärahoidmisele ning rahvusvahelise rahu ja julgeoleku tagamisele, ning toetada Liibanoni valitsust riigivõimu kindlustamisel riigi lõunaosas. UNIFIL-i tegevuspiirkond paikneb Litani jõe ja Sinise joone (ÜRO poolt 7. juunil 2000 kinnitatud piirijoon Iisraeli ja Liibanoni vahel) vahelisel alal. ÜRO liikmesriigina panustab Eesti julgeoleku tagamisse kriisipiirkondades. Eesti kui kollektiivsesse julgeolekusse panustav riik jälgib tähelepanelikult Lähis-Idas toimuvat ja sealsete sündmuste julgeolekupoliitilist mõju stabiilsusele Lähis-Idas ja mujal maailmas. Osalemine ÜRO missioonidel on Eesti jaoks olnud oluline ning on olulisemgi nüüd, mil Eesti on olnud ÜRO Julgeolekunõukogu valitud liige aastatel 2020–2021. Eesti kaitseväelaste osalemine ÜRO operatsioonidel aitab tugevdada Eesti panust ÜRO tegevusse rahu kindlustamisel.
