Summary
The bill allows for the continued contribution of up to six soldiers to the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission in the Middle East. UNTSO is the first UN peacekeeping mission that is purely an observation mission. The military observers participating in the mission are unarmed and tasked with monitoring compliance with peace agreements and arms agreements in the Middle East, thereby preventing the escalation of conflicts. Estonian military observers will participate As part of the UNTSO mission since 1997.
