Summary

The bill allows Estonia to contribute up to six defense personnel to the European Union's military operation EUNAVFOR Med/Irini in 2026, the purpose of which is to support the implementation of the UN arms embargo imposed on Libya. The operation will use naval, air and satellite capabilities and will inspect ships in international waters suspected of transporting weapons or related materials to or from Libya. By participating in the operation, Estonia shows solidarity with other member states and strengthens EU defense cooperation and security, contributing to stability on the southern border of the European Union.
