Summary

Mr. Francis Vercamer draws the attention of the Minister of State, Minister for Ecological and Inclusive Transition, to the consequences of the proliferation of the Asian gudgeon in waterways in mainland France. The Asian gudgeon is in fact a healthy carrier of a deadly pathogen for many native fish species. It is an invasive species which therefore constitutes a threat to biodiversity. A report from the Institute of Research for Development (IRD) has demonstrated that this fish is spreading rapidly. However, upon contact with Asian gudgeons and their bacteria, the mortality rate of other species can be up to 98% depending on the case. In addition to the ecological impact, this proliferation also has consequences on farmed fish, also giving economic importance to the phenomenon. While the Government takes action proactive in favor of biodiversity, he wishes to know the Government's intentions regarding the protection of river ecosystems and asks what management, monitoring and containment measures it would be possible to put in place, in order to prevent the proliferation of this species.
