Summary
Mrs. Manon Bouquin draws the attention of the Minister of Transport to the very problematic situation caused by the current configuration of the motorway and road infrastructures which organizes, in Hérault, traffic between the A75 and the A9, as well as with the Thau basin and the port of Sète. As it stands, a large part of the traffic between the A75 and the A9 is linked by means of the departmental road 613, between the Montagnac interchange and the Issanka interchange in Poussan, respectively. It is also this last interchange which serves as a privileged route to and from Sète. This results in a very considerable increase in traffic on the D613. This is particularly the case for that caused by road transport. The municipalities crossed by the D613 are thus saturated by heavy goods vehicle traffic, even though the roads are not suitable for them. In Mèze, including the D613 is also the main traffic avenue crossing the town from one side to the other, the problem is also security. This situation was, once again and tragically, brought to light a few weeks ago, on October 13, 2025, when a retired couple died under the wheels of a heavy goods vehicle while leaving a restaurant on the D613 in Mèze. Faced with this danger and the inconvenience caused, red lights and orders what the mayor of Mèze had to do to limit and pace the traffic of heavy goods vehicles and exceptional convoys cannot be enough. This is why the creation of a motorway interchange north of Mèze to relieve heavy goods vehicle traffic has been suggested several times in recent decades, notably at the request of the municipality of Mèze. Regularly mentioned since the 1970s, this interchange is supported, in principle, by the local authorities which have maintained, at a minimum, its mention in the Thau Basin ScOT despite an absence of will from the A9 concessionaire and historic opposition from the State. Numerous arguments, in addition to those mentioned above, call for seriously examining the need and feasibility of this important development project for which land reserves exist. It would significantly facilitate western and coastal service of the territory while opening up a poorly served area of economic activity, precisely at the corner of the D613 and the A9. On a larger scale, it would also be an asset for serving the international port of Sète from the rest of France. It is therefore with hope that the request from the prefect of Hérault to the mayor of Mèze to study its creation was received, for which he contacted the director of Vinci Autoroutes, concessionaire from the A9. She would therefore like to know if, in light of these elements, it will support the request of the municipality of Mèze to Vinci Autoroutes to carry out an opportunity and feasibility study and commit the State to the continuation of this project with local authorities.
