Summary

The role of Judicial Agents for the Protection of Adults (MJPM) is fundamental to guarantee the legal protection of our most vulnerable fellow citizens – elderly people, those with disabilities, the sick or those in great precariousness – whose rights must be preserved with rigor and humanity. The Government is fully aware of the commitment of these professionals and the need to offer them conditions of practice the height of the responsibilities incumbent on them. Nearly 10,000 professionals provide more than 530,000 protective measures each year. Concerning the specific question of the remuneration of agents practicing in an individual capacity (around 2,500 professionals), the Government is particularly attentive to the expectations expressed by the profession. Discussions are underway to better assess the workload linked to measurements of protection, as well as the economic model of individual agents and agent services. Indeed, any change in pricing must be part of a global, balanced and sustainable approach, reconciling recognition of the work accomplished and viability of the system in the medium term, with regard to projections on the number of people to be protected in the years to come, in a constrained budgetary context.
