Summary

Mr. Maurice Leroy draws the attention of the Minister of National Education to the situation of school assistants (AVS) and those accompanying students with disabilities (AESH). They face numerous difficulties which make their working conditions increasingly precarious: low pay, understaffing, lack of training, often partial working hours, lack of recognition. These professionals are, however, increasingly in demand given the growing number of students with disabilities in establishments and the need for educational support. At the start of the 2017 school year, 3,280 students were deprived of schooling due to lack of AVS. Beyond the increase in the number of AVS promised by the President of the Republic, the urgency is to improve their working conditions. He therefore wishes to know the measures envisaged by the Government to create a real professional status and improve the employment conditions of AVS and AESH.
