Summary
Mr. Jean-Carles Grelier draws the attention of the Minister of Territorial Cohesion and Relations with Local Authorities to the law for growth and activity, which came into force on March 1, 2016. Indeed, with regard to the digital aspect of this law and in particular its requirement for compulsory optical fiber equipment for all new housing since July 1, 2016, this law has maintained the obligation for developers to finance the study and deployment of cabling in these new homes using copper cables. However, it appears that this obligation cannot be respected to the extent that such cables are ineffective in the installation of fiber optic equipment by telecommunications companies. Consequently, in the absence of the initial objective of speed in the development of such equipment, this law maintains a burden unnecessary on developers and telecommunications companies in that it involves unnecessary costs of studies and copper cabling. He therefore asks him to kindly inform him of the Government's intentions on this point.
