Summary
Mr. Jean-Carles Grelier draws the attention of the Secretary of State to the Prime Minister, responsible for equality between women and men and the fight against discrimination, to the inequality resulting from the mortality tables applied to life annuities and life insurance provided by insurance companies. Indeed, a European directive of December 21, 2012 concerning gender discrimination led to a modification of the mortality tables used to calculate the amount of an annuity. Since this date, women and men are supposed to have the same mortality table. However, for the sake of economy and not prudence or equality, insurance companies decided to apply the tables intended for women, even though they were less favorable than those for men. Thus, insurers have not made up for the inequality since they put the men at the women's tables. According to article A132-18 of the insurance code, two tables can be used: table in A by sex and table in B not by sex. This should be used to name a single male/female table (TGU05) for example. Insurance companies claim to be able to use this text (which corresponds to the appropriate table leading to the most prudent rate) which is an explanatory text for designate table TGF05, table by sex as the single table. Women have therefore not gained anything more, unlike men who have therefore been penalized since the difference can be up to 20%! This situation has been experienced by many people, who regret this discriminatory choice. He therefore asks her to please let him know if she intends to take action to remedy this situation.
