Summary
Mr. Jean-François Portarrieu draws the attention of the Secretary of State, to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, to wine tourism. The world's leading tourist destination, France is also the leading exporter of wines and spirits. Wine tourism lies at the crossroads of these two major sectors of the economy. This sector has recorded great success with tourists with an increase in their number of 33% since 2009 to reach 10 million people (including 4.2 million foreign tourists) in 2016, for a volume of revenue estimated at 5.2 billion euros. It allows wine tourists to share a unique experience linked to the French art of living, while strengthening the attractiveness of numerous territories throughout the country. It also promotes the discovery of winemaking know-how and contributes to the export of wines. There first edition of the national wine tourism conference, organized in Paris on November 20, 2018, made it possible to highlight this sector and set its development axes for the coming years. Among the twenty actions and proposals presented on this occasion by Hervé Novelli, president of the higher council of wine tourism, is a necessary adaptation of the regulations to the specificities of the sector. Among they, the essential definition of the concept of tourist grape harvests in order to reassure wine tourism providers who wish to offer this activity, very appreciated by tourists, but who legitimately fear that this practice will be assimilated to irregular work. Therefore, he would like to know his position on this subject and know what measures could be implemented to support the development of the sector.
