Summary
Mr. Grégory Besson-Moreau draws the attention of the Minister of Agriculture and Food to the difficulties encountered by cattle breeders who are currently experiencing a deterioration in the prolificacy of cows. The livestock institute (Idele) has in fact noted a drop of 300,000 births between March 2017 and March 2018 compared to the previous year due to various hazards (climate, quality of fodder, etc.). This deficit of births will penalize the productivity of livestock as well as breeders' access to aid for suckler cattle (ABA). Thus, rural coordination suggested that the productivity ratio on the basis of which the number of primeable cows is calculated be lowered to 0.6 calves per cow. He asks what the Government's opinion is on this proposal and what measures could be taken to remedy this worrying situation for breeders.
