Summary
Mr. Éric Pauget draws the attention of the Minister of the Interior to the very worrying increase in acts of vandalism and desecration of churches in the country. Between January 28 and February 10, 2019, no less than nine places of Catholic worship were the target of heinous acts of desecration and vandalism. Furthermore, the 2017 results established by his ministry are very worrying. In fact, for this year we counts 878 attacks on Christian sites (religious buildings and graves) out of the 978 desecrations and damage recorded by its ministry, or more than two per day on average. Dijon, Nîmes, Lusignan, Maisons-Laffitte, Houille, no municipality in the region is spared from these unacceptable actions. Also, it is the duty of public authorities to protect these places of worship, places of peace par excellence. Considering the number worrying about criminal acts committed against these places of worship which are churches, he asks on the one hand, what are the sanctions or penalties actually inflicted on those who are the perpetrators and, on the other hand, if the Government intends to strengthen said sanctions in order to make them dissuasive and exemplary.
