Summary
Mrs. Martine Wonner draws the attention of the Minister of Solidarity and Health to the health and environmental risks concerning exceeding the thresholds of pesticide metabolites in raw water. On May 7, 2019, ANSES presented its opinion on metabolites, these compounds produced by the degradation of various pesticides, published in mid-April 2019. In fact, 700 pesticides and around forty metabolites are being researched. during analyzes intended to control the production of raw water intended for human consumption. Since the 1980s, France has applied a precautionary principle in its water policy. As a result, pesticides and metabolites are subject to the same requirements: no molecule must exceed 0.1 microgram per liter, their sum must be less than 0.5 microgram per liter in order to avoid the cocktail effect. Raw water gold regularly display levels above pesticide metabolite thresholds, which embarrasses certain ARS. It is therefore suggested to keep certain “relevant” metabolites below the threshold of 0.1 microgram per liter and to allow “irrelevant” metabolites to reach 0.9 microgram per liter. This decision is regressive, contrary to the requirements of public health and environmental protection. It would therefore be necessary to consider planned studies in order to assess the potential for endocrine disruption and the effects of mixtures of pesticides or metabolites likely to be the cause of numerous pathologies which are constantly increasing in France. She asks him to specify the means implemented by the Government to guarantee the transparency of the evaluation of water policy and of evaluation in general in France.
