Summary
Mr. Sébastien Huyghe draws the attention of the Minister of the Interior to electronic voting by French people abroad. During the 2017 legislative elections, electronic voting was canceled due to threats of cyberattacks and the imperfections of the platform. However, French people living abroad are not always close to a polling station, thereby excluding them in practice from the right to vote or requiring them to have to travel a long way. (sometimes up to several hundred kilometers). The electronic voting procedure also only concerns legislative and consular elections. Before the Assembly of French People Abroad in October 2017, the President of the Republic declared himself in favor of the return of electronic voting for the consular elections of 2020 and the legislative elections of 2022. He therefore asked whether internet voting will be restored in the framework of the next electoral deadlines and under what conditions. He also asks whether security guarantees will be strengthened to ensure the smooth running of the voting process.
