Summary
Mr. Ian Boucard draws the attention of the Minister of Solidarity and Health to the Government's desire to follow the advice of the High Authority for Health (HAS) which advocates stopping the reimbursement of homeopathic medicines. Indeed, the HAS in an advisory opinion considered that the service provided by homeopathy was insufficient and that it was therefore not appropriate to continue its reimbursement. However, the interest and usefulness of homeopathy are real, the French are attached to it and more than 1.2 million of them signed the petition against its delisting. Reimbursement promotes supervised use of homeopathic medicines by health professionals. One in four general practitioners and 78% of private midwives regularly prescribe homeopathy to their patients. Health professionals prescribe it for medical reasons demonstrated and recognized. Homeopathy in addition to certain heavy treatments allows certain patients to better cope with their care. It also makes it possible to limit the use of treatments with side effects, with patients followed by a homeopathic doctor taking on average half as many antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories, and three times as many psychotropic drugs. It is difficult to understand the economic choice of dereimbursement which would lead to a transfer to more expensive medicines. The average price of reimbursable homeopathic medicines is 2.70 euros while the average price of other reimbursable medicines is 9.90 euros. In addition, the dereimbursement will have the effect of increasing the prices of homeopathy since they will be set freely by pharmacies. Finally, the consequences of the delisting will be disastrous for the economy of the homeopathic industry. Laboratories will be hit hard by this decision, which could lead to the loss of around 1,300 jobs. This is why, in view of these elements, he asks it to maintain reimbursement for homeopathic treatments.
