Summary

Mr. Jean-Jacques Gaultier draws the attention of the Minister of National Education to the use of school textbooks written in inclusive writing. The Minister of National Education declared on October 16, 2017 that inclusive writing “damages our language” and “is not a priority” at school. However, the publisher Hatier published a school work in which the gender of the words was erased in order to avoid any sexist prejudice. This principle actually damages the written French language by making reading and spelling particularly complex. Furthermore, two Government ministers, the Minister for Equality of Women and Men and the Minister of Labor have just launched a guide for SMEs and VSEs, promoting inclusive writing in business. Taking into account these initiatives and considering that the school book from Hatier editions does not seems not to be a simple school work but an activist work, he asks her what her intentions and possibilities are to stop the promotion of such works and limit the promotion of neutral gender at school.
