Summary
Mrs. Lise Magnier draws the attention of the Minister of the Armed Forces to the conditions for awarding the distinction “Died in the service of the Nation”. The families of soldiers who died during operational exercises cannot claim this allocation since it remains reserved for the deaths of soldiers in exceptional circumstances. Exceptional circumstances are not clearly determined since they are at the discretion of the minister. By depriving these soldiers of the attribution of the mention "Death in the service of the Nation", the State also deprives their children of the status of wards of the Nation, which was the case of around twenty orphans in 2017. Also, it asks it to kindly specify the conditions required to obtain the attribution of the mention "Death in the service of the Nation" for deceased soldiers, even though certain deaths training have been granted this attribution in the past and that police officers who die during training benefit from the “citement to the order of the Nation”.
