Summary
Mr. Didier Martin questions the Minister of Solidarity and Health on the question of the attractiveness of the nursing assistant profession. According to study no. 1135 from the Department of Research, Studies, Evaluation and Statistics (DREES) of December 2019, the profession of caregiver is currently struggling to attract young people of training age. Indeed, between 2014 and 2018, the number of candidates for the entrance exam decreased by 42%. This deficit attractiveness is partly explained by the remuneration of nursing assistants that is still too low. It also stems from a lack of recognition of the key role of the caregiver and from particularly difficult and demanding working conditions. More fundamentally, it reflects a deep vocational crisis that must be contained. In its “National mobilization plan in favor of the attractiveness of older age professions 2020-2024” submitted on October 29, 2019, Myriam El Khomri formulates 59 recommendations in order to “meet the challenge of the attractiveness of professions for older people and autonomy”, a sector in which 60,000 positions are currently unfilled. Among them are an increase in remuneration, a modernization of training offers, systematic free training as well as the launch of a national plan to combat claims. In her report, Myriam El Khomri calls more specifically for the elimination of the nursing assistant competition. Faced with this disaffection for elderly professions and in particular for that of caregiver, professions essential to humane care of our elders, and in a context of aging of the population, we must act quickly to allow this sector to recruit more easily. He would like know the measures that the Government intends to take to increase the attractiveness of the profession of caregiver and more generally of those of old age and autonomy.
