Summary
Mr. Didier Martin questions the Minister of Culture on the results of the inclusion of gastronomic meals in UNESCO's intangible heritage. In November 2010, UNESCO included the French gastronomic meal on the list of intangible heritage of humanity. It thus recognized the exceptional value of this French tradition intended to celebrate the most important moments in the lives of individuals. By granting it this status, it celebrated the pleasure of taste, the art of “eating well” and “drinking well” but also the pleasure of being together and sharing. Ten years after its inscription, there are numerous actions to promote, enhance, conserve and also transmit this heritage, whether in France or internationally. Announced on June 19, 2013, the creation of a network of Cities of Gastronomy is the most visible example. Located in Dijon, Tours, Lyon and Paris-Rungis, the four Cities of Gastronomy aim to highlight French gastronomic heritage by each focusing on a dedicated theme. The City of Gastronomy of Dijon, which will normally open its doors at the end of December 2021, will for example be dedicated to the enhancement and promotion of vines and wine, essential components of the French art of living. Other initiatives around gastronomy festivals in particular have also multiplied. Internationally, valorization and transmission activities also exist, sometimes in a more indirect way. They involve, for example, the training of foreign chefs who then pass on, in their country of origin, the knowledge and know-how acquired in France. Valorization is also done through the export of products French like wine or by the arrival of foreign tourists curious to discover the terroirs. Ten years after the inclusion of the French gastronomic meal as a UNESCO heritage site, he would like to know what assessment it is possible to draw from actions to promote, enhance and conserve this heritage in France and internationally and what assessment can be made of the influence of French cuisine in a world of gourmets demanding pleasure, health and fairness.
