Summary

Mr. Hugues Renson draws the attention of the Minister of the Interior to the situation of asylum seekers with regard to their access to medical care. Indeed, since the adoption of the initial finance bill for 2020 and the decree of December 30, 2019 relating to the residence condition applicable to asylum seekers for the coverage of their health costs, a three-month waiting period has been imposed on asylum seekers for benefit from having their health costs covered by social security schemes. While awaiting their affiliation with health insurance, asylum seekers are turning to emergency services and health care access hotlines, already overloaded due to the covid-19 epidemic. In addition, this waiting period considerably complicates the consultation of a doctor or a medical examination necessary for certain formalities. If this measure is likely to have, in itself, numerous impacts for asylum seekers, in particular for those of them who registered, as such, before March 16, 2020, it also raises questions in terms of public health, during the health crisis that France is going through. He therefore asks whether the three-month waiting period is still appropriate in order to protect those placed in custody. danger by the current health situation, while the Government has just extended by order the period of validity of asylum application certificates for 90 days from March 16, 2020.
