The use of sink crushers before discharge into the public wastewater sanitation network is effectively prohibited in France, unless prefectural exemptions can be granted only for households. Furthermore, within the European Union, health regulation no. 142/2011 prohibits in principle the elimination of animal by-products (or their derivatives) in the wastewater network. Organic household waste, such as kitchen and table waste which are animal by-products cannot therefore be discharged into the wastewater network in this regard. However, the study mentioned in the question and provided for by article L. 541-1 of the environmental code will soon be made available by the Government.
