Mr. Philippe Juvin draws the attention of the Minister of Labor, Health, Solidarity and Families to the national strategy to combat neurodegenerative diseases. Neurodegenerative diseases affect nearly 4 million fellow citizens (sick people and caregivers) and constitute the leading cause of loss of autonomy. Unfortunately, the results of the 2014-2019 Neurodegenerative Disease Plan (PMND) showed the insufficiency of achievements in relation to the needs and objectives set but also many aspects not covered. As it expired on December 31, 2022, the member associations and foundations of the MND Collective mobilized, with learned societies and worked for months, in a desire for consultation and co-construction with the central directorates of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, on an enriched version of this roadmap. The latter, supposed to be implemented for the following two years, i.e. 2023-2024, has never been validated. After the Minister of Health at the time, Mr. François Braun, confirmed his wish to start again on a multi-year plan to address this major public health challenge, new collective work by associations and foundations resulted in the validation at the end of December 2023, by all stakeholders, of measures for the implementation of a new strategy multi-year 2024-2028. This five-year strategy was to be announced in January 2024 but nothing has happened since. Political instability cannot excuse everything. It is unacceptable that France has not had a public health policy relating to this priority issue of neurodegenerative diseases for 5 years now. It is not satisfactory to understand them “piece by piece”, in broad strategies (aging well, caregivers, modernization of the health system) carried out without coordination between them or consistency. Diagnostic wandering, difficulties accessing care, lack of care, insufficient therapeutic monitoring, disruption of the care pathway, isolation of sick people, lack of support from caregivers, impoverishment of the family unit, poorly adapted systems, difficult to understand inclusion policy, shortage of resources for research: it is urgent to provide worthy support to the millions of French people concerned. Faced with these findings, he asks what the Government's decisions will be regarding the national strategy that it is committed to implementing, the allocation of allocations consistent with the needs on the ground and the carrying out of rigorous management and evaluation of the actions put in place.
