Summary
Mr. Cédric Villani draws the attention of the Minister of Ecological Transition to the situation of non-domestic animals kept in private homes in France. The latest IPBES report published on November 4, 2020 demonstrates that proximity between wild animals and humans promotes pandemics. In fact, 70% of known diseases originate from zoonoses. Wild animals kept in private homes can carry multiple pathogens that can cause, for example, monkey pox, salmonella, herpes B or even tuberculosis, not to mention diseases that we do not yet know (less than 0.1% of the pathogens responsible for zoonoses have been discovered to date). The Code Animal association proposes the adoption of a strict list of species of non-domestic animals authorized for keeping and for which it is scientifically proven that they do not pose a health problem. He would like to know if such a list is possible in France and what timeframes would be necessary for its implementation.
