Summary
The rate of incompressible loss of covid-19 vaccines is extremely low and much lower than that of other vaccines given the logistical constraints relating to transport, maintaining the cold chain, last mile handling and storage of vaccines. The low rate of this rate is explained in particular by the effectiveness of the various levers which have been activated in order to optimize the use of doses in circulation in the territory. Reallocation and equalization mechanisms made it possible to anticipate the expiration of doses at the local level and to redirect stocks according to needs. The opening, from May 12, of vaccination to any adult regardless of age or health for each free slot overnight made it possible to increase this optimization by relying in particular on the Covidliste citizen initiative. The ongoing work relating to the extension of expiry dates granted by the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products when storage conditions permit and at the request of regional health agencies contributes to the same objective. To date, however, there is no consolidated data set on the rate of vaccine loss by region.
