Summary

The use of biosourced, compostable and biodegradable plastics is the subject of many questions and the report provided for by the law of February 10, 2020 is useful. However, the quantities of plastics produced and consumed each year in the world are such that it is firstly important to curb single uses of plastic. It was therefore chosen as a priority to take measures to implement part of the directive of the June 5, 2019 relating to the reduction of the impact of certain plastic products on the environment for the implementation of which France is among the countries having shown ambition and on the other hand of law relating to the fight against waste and the aforementioned circular economy. The Government is nevertheless working to prepare a report on the issue of plastics.
