The 2009 directive on the internal electricity market sets ambitious objectives for the deployment of smart meters, aiming to equip 80% of households with such devices by 2020. The Enedis Internet portal, whose functionalities are not well known enough, already allows consumers to know their daily consumption provided that he has requested it. Consumption data is then available thanks to daily remote reading of metering data. In accordance with the legislative provisions currently in force, the electricity distribution network manager has exclusive competence for metering and is, as such, the owner of the meters. On the other hand, the installation of a remote display indicating the price in real time is a device going beyond the skills of the network manager and cannot be fitted to a smart meter by default. In fact, real-time pricing information depends on the pricing offer subscribed by the consumer from their supplier.
