Summary

The fight against domestic violence is one of the Government's major concerns. This is demonstrated in particular by the actions implemented as part of the fifth plan to mobilize and combat violence against women (2017-2019). One of them aims to strengthen the protection order, a system which is increasingly being used by victims and those involved, whether judicial or not, fighting against domestic violence. Thus, in eight years, the use of protection orders has almost doubled since 3,067 decisions were rendered in 2017 compared to 1,663 decisions in 2011. The protection order system, however, needs to be evaluated, in order to improve its effectiveness, if necessary. This is the case since a study is underway, listing and analyzing all protection order decisions issued in 2016 by family court judges. It will make it possible to refine the Government's actions in the fight against domestic violence, in particular by improving the guidance of victims upstream of the legal procedure (civil and criminal) and by optimizing the procedure before the family court judge.
