The Government also ensures the amplification of research and innovation in these areas and their financing through different mechanisms. Thus, the environment and energy management agency (Ademe) supported, as part of the future investments program (PIA), 40 research, innovation and demonstrator projects on the circular economy, for a project amount of 344 million euros and an aid amount of 110 million euros, as well as 27 projects in the fields of industry and eco-efficient agriculture, for a project amount of 189 million euros and an aid amount of 88 million euros. This agency also launched, in April 2018, as part of the PIA3, 8 new calls for demonstrator projects, including those open to “eco-efficient industries” and the “circular economy and [the] recovery of waste”.
