Summary

By a judgment rendered on July 12, 2018, the Council of State decided to suspend the execution of the decision of the Paris Administrative Court of Appeal of April 25, 2018 which pronounced the early termination, from August 1, 2018, of the contract concluded by health insurance for the organization of organized colorectal cancer screening. This decision will make it possible to extend the work carried out in matters of public health. Cancer screening colorectal will be able to continue without interruption and without loss of opportunity for the 16.6 million people affected. Each month since its implementation, more than 200,000 people have carried out this screening. The program makes it possible to diagnose a potential risk of colorectal cancer in 4.5% of them. This decision will also make it possible to maintain the momentum established over the last two years. Following the implementation of this new generation of tests that are simpler to use (only 1 sample) and more precise, the participation rate improved to reach 33.5% at the end of 2017 (up 4.9 points). Colorectal cancer is the 3rd most common cancer with an estimated 45,000 cases per year, and the 2nd deadliest cancer.
