Summary

The light vehicles received today are tested according to European and international regulations. The pollutants are measured on a test bench according to a test which consists of following a test cycle representing a “scenario” made up of accelerations and decelerations. Before the entry into force of the WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure), the cycle in force since July 1973 was the NEDC (New European Driving Cycle). France has chosen to include the value of the vehicle's CO2 emissions on the registration certificate, under section V7. Ultimately, this V7 field will be populated with: - a WLTP CO2 value for all new vehicles; - or an NEDC CO2 value for vehicles already registered. Pending the new penalty scales applicable in the context of the WLTP, a notice published in the Official Journal of March 7, 2018 clarifies the transitional rule applied to fill in the V7 field of passenger cars registered for the first time since the entry into force of the WLTP regulation for vehicles approved in accordance with the new cycle, on which the taxation associated with CO2 emissions is based.
