Summary

There was never any question of eliminating survivor's pensions. These will of course be maintained for all people who currently benefit from them and will continue to exist after the implementation of the new retirement system. There are currently 42 pension schemes which have their own rules: the parameters of the survivor's pension (rate, conditions of age, resources, duration of marriage or remarriage) are not are not the same. This diversity of rules today leads to great injustices between French people who, faced with the same tragedy and for the same contributions, will not have the same rights to reversion. The consultation currently being carried out by the High Commissioner for Pension Reform with the social partners aims to build a universal retirement system, which involves defining common rules for all to remedy these injustices.
