Dans le cadre de la mise en oeuvre de sa politique de simplification visant à rétablir la compétitivité des entreprises européennes, la Commission européenne a dévoilé, en mai 2025, un paquet « omnibus » dédié aux « petites entreprises à moyenne capitalisation », ou SMC (small mid-capitalization), qui constitue une première étape sur la voie de la reconnaissance des entreprises de taille intermédiaire que le Sénat appelle de ses voeux.
