Riigikogu decision "Nomination of Vahur-Peeter Liini as a member of the Supreme Court"

The bill provides for appointing Vahur-Peeter Liin as a member of the Supreme Court from October 2, 2023. Villu Kõve, Chairman of the Supreme Court, notes in the accompanying letter that in addition to his long service in the judicial system, Vahur-Peeter Liin has also contributed significantly to the studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tartu, performing teaching duties in the field of civil court procedure and labor law there since 2009. He has participated in the Code of Civil Procedure and Estonia When preparing annotated editions of the Constitution of the Republic. V-F. Liin is an experienced and recognized lawyer, whose long-term and diverse work experience in the judicial system and as a lecturer at the University of Tartu allows him to significantly contribute to the work of the civil collegium of the Supreme Court and the further development of Estonian civil law.

Riigikogu decision "Nomination of Margit Vut as a member of the Supreme Court"

Riigikohtu esimehe Villu Kõve hinnangul on Margit Vutt kogenud ja tunnustatud jurist, kelle senine pikaajaline ning mitmekülgne töökogemus kohtusüsteemis ja Tartu Ülikooli õigusteaduskonna tsiviilõiguse lektorina võimaldab tal oluliselt panustada Riigikohtu tsiviilkolleegiumi töösse ning Eesti tsiviilõiguse edasiarendamisse. Kõve teeb ettepaneku nimetada Vutt Riigikohtu liikmeks alates 17. juulist 2023.

Riigikogu decision "Nomination of Heili Sepa as a member of the Supreme Court"

Chairman of the Supreme Court, Villu Kõve, proposes to appoint Heili Sepp as a member of the Supreme Court from March 1, 2022. Kõve notes in the cover letter that Heili Sepa's long-term and very versatile experience in public service enables him to contribute significantly to the work of the Supreme Court's criminal collegium and the further development of Estonian criminal law. In addition to his long-term service in the public sector, Sepp has published numerous articles on legal topics and opinion pieces. He is also one of the co-authors of the annotated edition of the Constitution of the Republic of Estonia. Sepa's contribution to the development of drafts and amendments to laws concerning criminal law and criminal procedure has been significant. He has passed on his knowledge in annual lectures and seminars at the University of Tartu and the Internal Security Academy, as well as in training sessions for judges and court lawyers. Sepp is included in the list of OECD and GRECO experts as expert in law enforcement and justice system and criminal procedure and anti-corruption measures.

Riigikogu decision "Nomination of Urmas Volens as a member of the Supreme Court"

In the request of Villu Kõve, the President of the Supreme Court, it is highlighted that Urmas Volens is an experienced and recognized lawyer, whose previous work experience in various positions in the Ministry of Justice, as a barrister in law firms and as an associate professor of civil procedure at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tartu enables him to significantly contribute to the work of the civil collegium of the Supreme Court and the further development of Estonian civil law.

Riigikogu decision "Dismissal of Jaak Luige, a member of the Riigikjut, from the office of judge"

With the bill, state judge Jaak Luik will be released from the office of judge. The accompanying letter states that on January 25, 2019, Supreme Court Judge Jaak Luik submitted a petition to the President of the Supreme Court, asking the Riigikogu to propose his dismissal from office as of December 1, 2019 at his own request due to his retirement.
