An amendment to provide that no individual may be discriminated against with respect to entrance to wilderness areas because of a disability. It stipulates that wheelchairs may be used in wilderness areas by any individual requiring the use of a wheelchair. As modified, the amendment provides for a reaffirmation by Congress that nothing in the Wilderness Act is to be construed as prohibiting use of a wheelchair in a wilderness area by an individual whose disability requires use of a wheelchair, but no agency is required to provide any form of special treatment or accomodation, or to construct any facilities or modify any conditions of lands within a wilderness area in order to facilitate such use.

Amendment originally sought to leave in tact the $1.3 billion authorized for the advanced solid rocket motor program (ASRM) but specified that if the ASRM is not available for use on the sixth space station assembly mission or earlier, then no funds are authorized for continued development of the ASRM. \ As amended by the Brown amendments (A009), the requirements in the Hansen amendment for the availability of the ASRM for the sixth mission is retained, as well as original language in the bill which specifies reduced levels for the ASRM if NASA does not receive full funding as authorized in the bill.

An amendment on the previous legislative day to prohibit expenditure of funds for the MX basing mode until the President determines the type of basing mode to be used, the Secretary of Defense submits a written report justifying the President's selection and comparing and evaluating it in relation to alternative basing modes, and Congress has not, within 60 days of receiving the President's certification, passed a joint resolution of disapproval. The amendment also requires development to continue on the MX missile system so as to make deployment possible by December 31, 1986.
